Equipping Christian Leaders with God's Word
Statement of Mission and Purpose
International Theological Seminary (ITS) is a traditional seminary in the sense that its mission and purpose are to prepare men and women to serve the Lord and his Church. ITS provides theological education to train students to be competent in interpretation, proclamation, and application of God’s Word to the world today. The mission and purpose of ITS are, however, distinctive from those of some traditional seminaries in the following way:
1. ITS exists to respond primarily to the pressing needs and challenges of the churches in Third
World countries by providing theological education and ministry skills to students from the
areas.
2. ITS strives to develop in students spiritually and biblically sound leadership for their home countries and churches.
3. ITS encourages students who come from a wide variety of backgrounds to gain knowledge of
other cultures not only to broaden their ministry perspectives but also to prepare themselves for
possible partnership in global ministries.
4. Because of its conviction that spiritually and biblically sound leadership must be paired with academic integrity, ITS seeks academic excellence from its students and faculty.
Statement of Faith
Each member of the board, faculty, and staff of the seminary is required to subscribe to the following statement of faith which serves as the standard of faith and practice of the ITS community:
“We believe that the Bible is God’s infallible written Word, uniquely inspired by the Holy Spirit, written without error, and that it is the supreme and final
authority in all matters on which it speaks.
Instructed by these Holy Scriptures, we believe in the triune God, Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier; in the atoning death and victorious resurrection of
Jesus Christ and His return to judge the living and the dead; and in forgiveness of sin, and the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the Church, which is His body,
composed of all those whom He has gathered to himself by his Word and Spirit since the beginning of the time, and that we are members of this Church. To this
Church He has given the ommission to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations.
We hold that this teaching is faithfully reflected in the Westminster Confession, Belgic Confession, and Heidelberg Catechism.
By affixing our signatures to this statement we pledge to live and to teach in conformity with its affirmation.”
