Introduction: Mission, Goals, and ObjectivesThe mission of ITS is to respond to the pressing needs and challenges in providing rigorous academic training that prepare students to achieve a sound theological education in the Reformed tradition. Through its competent faculty, ITS offers masters and doctoral degrees in theology, theological and Christian studies, and practical theology. Within its diverse student body, students should expect to receive from ITS the type of theological education necessary to equip them to adapt Christianity to their own cultures. Faculty should expect to teach qualified and committed students within a fiscally sound institution, blessed with a substantial library, and committed to academic freedom. The community should expect excellence in theological education. At ITS, a student is provided the opportunity to develop professional attitude, self-discipline and confidence, knowledge and skills, and the ability to meet changing church expectations for ministry training. In pursuing these studies, ITS expects its students to develop critical learning skills, an ability for life-long learning, a commitment to years of church service. It is the goal of ITS to use such teaching methods as lecture, demonstration, one-on-one tutorial, and periodic examinations and other study outcome measures to ensure that the skills, abilities, and commitment contained in the mission have been learned. If such a goal is attained, a student should demonstrate a mastery of Christian studies, an ability to critically analyze church teachings, and a continuing desire to improve their knowledge and skills. It is also the goal of ITS that its training must meet the needs of a changing world. In this regard ITS monitors new developments in both theological education and practice and communicates regularly with church leaders in diverse communities to ensure that the ITS education reflects current church practices and future needs. To fulfill its mission, ITS has established certain objectives. Students are expected to demonstrate good scholarship in the fields of biblical, historical, theological, and church and ministry studies, as measured by objective testing, and good Christian citizenship, as measured by adherence to Christian codes of good conduct. The ultimate objective of ITS education is good ministry, as measured by the ability of its graduates to adapt Christianity to their own churches and cultures.
